Under the Same Star is an adaptation of the novel under the same star (original title in English: The Fault in Our Stars) John Green published in January 2012 whose title was inspired by the famous phrase of the play Shakespeare's Julius Caesar when Cassius says to Brutus "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we agree to be inferior."

Under the Same Star is a film about cancer, an approach to how it affects each of the people around who have the disease, and a sample of how a person living with this condition, in full awareness of its terminal state. It is also a love story between teenagers, but if they expect a totally romantic film, under the same star is not.

Hazel is a teenager with lung cancer was diagnosed a few years ago and knows he has a few years of life. She takes his drugs, subjected to treatments and even going to a support group that detests to meet his parents. There he meets Gus, who gradually strike up a friendship and romance that changes his life.

Hazel leads his illness as something natural, which will mean being isolated as a teenager, and not have friends; however he loves books, one in particular, and want to live because it supports imagine the pain of his parents with his death. How do you live with terminal cancer? It is one of the questions that troubled me before seeing the film, and the answer worries me more, just do it, like thousands of people suffering from this grim disease.

Gus meanwhile embodies joy, and transmitted to Hazel, with simple conversations and an incomparable vitality. Gus is balance and reason that Hazel needed to ingratiate himself with life.

Under the Same Star is a true story, ie in which people suffer, enjoy, fall in love, and break. It feels real, largely thanks to the performance of Shailene Woodley as Hazel, a sweet and tender teenager with a face that shows the pain of the disease and the necessary strength to resist. Divergent Shailene is demonstrated in a blockbuster actress, under the same star in shows that have the necessary skills to be a star. Unfortunately you can not say the same about Ansel Elgort as Gus, an insipid representation of a role that could be better exploited.

Under the Same Star is a film to reflect on the way we use each moment of life.

Fun Fact: Hazel's mother is exactly like J. K. Rowling.

Bajo la Misma Estrella es una adaptación de la novela Bajo la misma estrella (título original en inglés: The Fault in Our Stars) de John Green publicada en enero de 2012 cuyo título fue inspirado por la famosa frase de la obra Julio César de Shakespeare cuando Casio le dice a Bruto «¡La culpa, querido Bruto, no es de nuestras estrellas, sino de nosotros mismos, que consentimos en ser inferiores”.

Bajo la Misma Estrella es una película sobre el cáncer, un acercamiento a la forma en que afecta a cada una de las personas que rodean a quien padece la enfermedad, y una muestra de cómo una persona convive con esta afección, teniendo plena conciencia de su estado terminal. También es una película de amor entre adolescentes, pero si esperan un filme totalmente romántico, Bajo la Misma Estrella no lo es.

Hazel es una adolescente con cáncer de pulmón, fue diagnosticada hace algunos años y sabe que tiene pocos años de vida. Ella toma sus drogas, se somete a sus tratamientos e incluso va a un grupo de apoyo que detesta para satisfacer a sus padres. Allí conoce a Gus, con quien poco a poco entablan una amistad y un romance, que le cambia su vida.

Hazel lleva su enfermedad como algo natural, lo cual le implica estar aislada como adolescente, y no tener amigos; sin embargo ama los libros, uno en particular, y desea seguir viviendo porque no soporta imaginar el dolor de sus padres con su muerte. ¿Cómo vive con cáncer terminal? Es una de las preguntas que me inquietaba antes de ver la película, y la respuesta me inquieta más, simplemente lo hace, al igual que miles de personas que sufren esta macabra enfermedad.

Gus por su parte encarna la alegría, y la trasmite a Hazel, con conversaciones simples y una vitalidad incomparable. Gus es el equilibrio y la razón que Hazel necesitaba para congraciarse con la vida.

Bajo la Misma Estrella es una historia real, es decir en la cual las personas sufren, gozan, se enamoran, y se rompen. Se siente real, en gran medida gracias a la actuación de Shailene Woodley como Hazel, una adolescente dulce y tierna, con un rostro que evidencia el dolor de la enfermedad y la fuerza necesaria para resistirla. Shailene demostró en Divergente que es una actriz taquillera, en Bajo la Misma Estrella demuestra que tiene las dotes necesarias para ser una estrella. Lastimosamente no se puede decir lo mismo de Ansel Elgort como Gus, una representación insípida de un papel que pudo ser mejor explotado.

Bajo la Misma Estrella es una película para reflexionar sobre la forma en que aprovechamos cada uno de los momentos de la vida.

Dato curioso: La madre de Hazel es igualita a J. K. Rowling.
